“Our generation has seen this huge change. So we're excited for the future.” Below, Bellamy talks through some of the tracks on Will of the People. “If I had to pick one thing that I'm fighting for, it's can we create a revolution? Can we create change here, where it isn't violent and it doesn't lead to an authoritarian vision? We've still got ideas and things we want to do that we haven't done yet. Frustration abounds, and the band has never sounded so large. Now we’re in it, and so are the songs: The Queen-esque “Compliance” takes aim at a culture of bad-faith actors “Liberation” is glam rock against disinformation. “I think in the past, a lot of our stuff's kind of delved into fictional dystopia, like George Orwell.” “It feels a bit closer to reality this time,” Bellamy says. In many ways, it sets the tone for Will of the People, Muse’s ninth full-length and first LP in four years: They needed to sound louder and angrier than ever before, because they’re no longer writing about future anti-utopias-the struggles are here, now. “Because metal, it turns out these metal players are absolute geniuses.” He is, of course, referring to “Kill or Be Killed,” arguably the heaviest track in the English rock band’s 28 years and nine studio albums. Once you find your muse, it may make it possible for you to push the boundaries, create new music, and even reach new heights of notoriety within your community and beyond.“It was nice to actually find something that we weren't good at, and actually try and get really good at it,” Muse singer Matt Bellamy tells Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. Bob Dylan had Sara Lowndes, Billy Joel had Christie Brinkley, and Marvin Gaye had Anna Gordy Gaye, and this is just a few of the musicians who have spoken out. Plenty of musicians have had Muse is over the years. Once you find a Muse, you may be able to take your music to a new level. There is creativity inside of you, and it may take a Muse in order to unlock it. You can be responsible, listen to your muse when they tell you to act or to wait, and to push yourself so that you can gain the tenacity to finish everything that you start. If you establish a discipline that allows you to follow your muse, you can avoid these negative issues. You cannot burn yourself out, nor can you procrastinate and hope that you are going to feel motivated. Depending upon what is going on with you, you may fall into one category or another – working too hard or not working out on a specific project. Following him use is its own form of discipline, and can help you to avoid lazy periods. It’s important to have discipline when you are learning music. It may be easier to create new pieces, create lyrics for a song, or get in front of a group of people to perform your music live for the first time. It is simply a way of overcoming creative block and inspiring creativity within your music. A Muse can be imaginary, a real person, or even a place. You may also find that there is more creativity in your life as a result of having a Muse. By having a Muse, they help to re-establish the creative flow, and therefore can eliminate the performance anxiety at the same time. Many people experience creative block as a result of performance anxiety. There was a TED talk a while ago by Elizabeth Gilbert, who was devoted to resurrecting the Muse model. One of the main reasons to consider abuse is that I can remove pressure from performance. It’s a force within your psyche that can help you to achieve greatness. However, this “invisible spirit” has the ability to drive creative inspiration your way. Many people roll their eyes when they hear about a muse. A lot of different musicians throughout the centuries have had a Muse, and once you have one, it is entirely possible for that Muse to change from time to time. Having one may be more important than you realize. When you decide to create music, a muse needs to be considered.
