This year my NRL Hunter has been with H-1000 and it’s incredible! I shot a lot of Sta-Ball 6.5 and it worked well beyond expectations. Varget and H-4350 are the go to but since I’ve been running some IMR Enduron powders that seem to work very good as well. 100% of all my handloads are done with Hodgdon brands. There have been some top 10 ELR finishes as well but I don’t remember the specifics.Īll but 2-3 of those are with handloaded ammo. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon and this year is scheduled to be as busy as any while shooting 4 different series.Ģ019 Alabama Precision Long Range Challenge 5thĢ021 Alabama Precision Long Range Classic 3rd In my time I have worked on improving myself to take it as high as I can. I really enjoy the community as well as the sport. In the last several years I have really focussed on the PRS, ELR, and NRL Hunter. I have shot benchrest, F-Class, PRS, ELR, NRL hunter, and field matches. In that time I have used it for both hunting and competition. My name is Robert Brantley and I have been obsessed with precision rifle since 2007. For this reason people shooting with a silencer prefer subsonic loads, even when shooting a rifle. As a side note, if a silencer is attached to the gun it will only suppress the muzzle-blast noise. Subsonic loads do not have this second component of noise. The noise that shooting makes has two components, the noise of the hot gases escaping the muzzle and sometimes flashing as they hit the atmosphere (muzzle blast), and in the case of supersonic loads the crack of the sonic boom as the bullet breaks the sound barrier. Most rifle loadings are all supersonic, so subsonic loads are specially down-loaded to stay below the speed of sound. In 9mm, most loading data are supersonic. All data in this caliber is subsonic but is not normally tagged with the name subsonic. Not all “subsonic” loads are noted as such in the data, because the cartridge is not capable of producing supersonic velocity. With the addition of a suppressor, M-22 Subsonic achieves a remarkably quiet 116 dB.Subsonic loads refer to those whose velocity is less than the speed of sound. 22 LR fired from a suppressed rifle (138 dB). So how much more quiet is M-22 Subsonic compared to standard long rifle loads? In Winchester testing, M-22 Subsonic measured at 129 dB from an unsuppressed rifle, which is significantly quieter than a full velocity. The ammunition works equally well in unsuppressed firearms, too, reducing the sound of shots even without a suppressor M-22 Subsonic is ideal for the increasingly popular suppressed firearms, eliminating the audible crack of faster rounds, even when fired through a suppressor, for the ultimate in low-noise shooting. In addition, the M-22 Subsonic utilizes non-corrosive priming and clean burning powder for reduced muzzle flash and easier care and cleaning of your firearm. The new round features a 45-grain black-plated lead, round nose bullet that has the equivalent energy of a full velocity 36-grain rimfire product. The M-22 Subsonic is designed specifically to function in semi-automatic firearms while remaining subsonic from both pistol and rifle length barrels. Winchester continues breaking ground in the rimfire world in 2016 with the introduction of a subsonic. Centerfire performance at rimfire cost is what the 17 Win Super Mag brought to the table. Think the groundbreaking 17 Winchester Super Magnum, introduced just two years ago, that shattered the speed record with a deadly accurate 3,000 fps muzzle velocity. The Need For Speed – The New Winchester M-22 Subsonic Winchester Ammunition is one of a few ammo companies still turning out innovations in the realm of rimfire ammunition.
